A.R.M.S. - Apostles - Responsible –for –Ministering - in - Signs

A.R.M.S. was discovered on Sunday December 19, 2004. It all took place at our annual Christmas Cantata at Boulevard Church of the Nazarene. There was a grand play and the idea to sign the song "Joy to the World" the Mariah Carey Version, was introduced by Kimberly Miller who did it at her school. Devra liked the idea, but spruced it up a bit with a few innovative ideas of her own (inspired of course by the One above). The piece was done in black light, and the hands appeared framed in a glowingly decorated shop window. Boulevard fell in love immediately and the group, (consisting only of 8 then) was excited and thrilled!

We then began to meet and practice signing. Devra decided to take on the mantle of leading the group, not knowing exactly what she was getting herself into. we were dubbed "the sign language group" whenever we were asked to minister in our local church. we took part in all major programs within our church such as Easter concerts, Christmas, thanksgiving, Sunday services etc. as the group began to grow, we decided that we needed to come up with an official name. after going home to think over an pray about it, Daeyna (our sign assistant) came up with the innovative acronym A.R.M.S: meaning Apostles Responsible for Ministering in Signs (Thursday Feb 9. 2006). The group fell in love with the name immediately!

Devra, the Leader of the group, started signing at age 22, but first fell in love with it at about age 10 when she saw it done at her Primary school. she knew deep within that her gift and calling within here home church, Boulevard, would be in the performing arts as she KNEW deep within that she was blessed with an innovative gift of thinking up ways of worshiping God out of the ordinary. to his day, despite the set backs at times, she holds true to her. She and her enthusiastic group members consisting of :
